2024 ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
BY THE BLACK MANAGEMENT FORUM
Award Categories
The BMF Achievement Awards recognise individuals or companies that have played a significant role in driving socio-economic transformation. BMF membership is not mandatory (with the exception of the student chapter awards). However, because contributions to the development of communities are essential criteria in the selection of award recipients, BMF service or participation may be a discriminator between otherwise equal candidates.
Most Transformed Board Award
This award is presented to the most diverse board in terms of race, gender, age, and skills relevant to the business. Companies that have diverse boards are better prepared to succeed against all odds. The transformation agenda pursued by the BMF, and as it relates to the Board’s of Corporate South Africa, seeks to encourage compositions that address the injustices of the past as well as leverage the relationship found between diversity and performance for long-term success and sustainability.
Most Transformed Exco Award
Management Control is an element within BBBEE that addresses certain issues surrounding black management and the control and/or decision-making within the measured entity. This award is awarded to the company that has overcome the many challenges surrounding this element at the Executive Director level to maintain transformed executive teams, or with the most improved executive team in terms of the element over the past financial year
BMF Impact Award For SMME’s
Category A
This award acknowledges enterprises that have made valued, balanced contributions to the economic growth and employment in South Africa. This award targets SMMEs with annual turnover below R5 million.
This award recognises SMMEs that are making an impact in one  or more of the following three impact areas:
- Job creation and an enabler of entrepreneurship;
- Serving underserved and/or unserved markets – providing access to essential goods and services (Education, health, essential consumer goods, financial services, etc.);
- Disruptor of an untransformed sector of our economy.
BMF Impact Award For SMME’s
Category B
This award acknowledges enterprises that have made valued, balanced contributions to the economic growth and employment in South Africa. This award targets SMMEs with annual turnover above R5 million.
This award recognises SMMEs that are making an impact in one  or more of the following three impact areas:
- Job creation and an enabler of entrepreneurship;
- Serving underserved and/or unserved markets – providing access to essential goods and services (Education, health, essential consumer goods, financial services, etc.);
- Disruptor of an untransformed sector of our economy.
Young Women’s Leadership Award
This is an award for young, impactful and empowering women in business, entrepreneurship, civil society and public service. This award is awarded to the trailblazing woman who has shown extraordinary leadership and has played a role in the empowerment of women in general.
Manager Of The Year
This award recognises an individual that significantly contributes to the development of people and communities, who in addition, fulfils the role of being a change agent within the workplace.Â
This leader has achieved significant and measurable transformational change in the previous calendar year, embraces the value of Ubuntu and Batho-Pele principles and displays outstanding leadership and/or innovation in one or more aspects of governance.
Young Professionals Achievement Award
This award recognises an individual below the age of 35 that has demonstrated self-discipline, integrity, and reputable work ethic as an emerging leader.

Student Chapter Branch Of  The Year
This award recognises a sc branch that has been exemplary in student chapter operations and can present evidence of:

- implementing programmes that promote academic excellence and personal development;
- Playing an active role in youth development within the community; and
- Fostering creativity, integrity, initiative, effectiveness, responsibility and accountability.
Nomination And Selection Processes
To nominate a candidate, it is important that you:
- Email your nomination and supporting documents to: mpho.motshwanaesi@bmfonline.co.za
- Use: Category | Full Name of Nominee as Subject line
- Review the award eligibility and criteria to select the best award for the nominee
- Obtain the nominee’s permission
Nomination:
- For each category, the nominee must submit an executive summary which outlines achievements and addresses each specific criterion as outlined in the nomination brief;
- Nominators are to submit motivation indicating why the company/individual/branch meets the outlined criteria thereby providing a clear and consistent explanation of what differentiates the nominee from its peers
- You may include supporting documentation (e.g. Articles, letters of support, testimonials);
Submission:
- The deadline for submissions is the 18th October 2024 at 23h59;
- Nominations can only be submitted via the online Nomination form by the above-mentioned date and time.
Selection:
- A selection committee will review all nominations and select the award recipient for each award category. Only nominees that meet the selection criteria will be considered;
- The recipients will be announced at the 2024 Achievement awards gala dinner, 8th November 2024, at the Sandton Convention Center.
