ABOUT THE AWARDS

The BMF Achievement Awards recognise individuals or companies that have played a significant role in driving socio-economic transformation. BMF membership is not mandatory (with the exception of the student chapter awards). However, because contributions to the development of communities are essential criteria in the selection of award recipients, BMF service or participation may be a discriminator between otherwise equal candidates.

Manager Of The Year Award

The Manager of the Year Award celebrates a leader who has made significant contributions to the development of their team and communities while acting as a change agent in the workplace. This individual embodies the values of Ubuntuand has played a pivotal role in promoting transformation, innovation, and good governance. The award recognizes outstanding leadership that goes beyond organizational success to drive meaningful societal impact.

Young Professional Achievement Award

The Young Professional of the Year Award honors an emerging leader under the age of 36, or below, who demonstrates self-discipline, integrity, and a strong work ethic. This individual plays a vital role in advancing transformation within their organization and community, actively contributing to the development of other young professionals. The award acknowledges those who exemplify leadership, innovation, and commitment to socio-economic upliftment.

Woman Leader of the Year Award

The Woman Leader of the Year Award celebrates women of all ages who are trailblazers in business, civil society, entrepreneurship, or public service, leading with purpose and driving initiatives that empower other women while contributing to socio-economic transformation. This award honors individuals who inspire and uplift their communities through extraordinary leadership, commitment to gender equality, and a demonstrated impact that transcends organizational boundaries. Recipients embody the values of Ubuntu, fostering innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable change that addresses historical inequalities and uplifts disadvantaged groups.

Student Chapter Branch Of  The Year

This award recognises a sc branch that has been exemplary in student chapter operations and can present evidence of:

 

  1. implementing programmes that promote academic excellence and personal development;
  2. Playing an active role in youth development within the community; and
  3. Fostering creativity, integrity, initiative, effectiveness, responsibility and accountability.

BMF Impact Award For SMME’s

Category A & B

The BMF Impact Award for SMMEs recognizes Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) that have made notable contributions to economic growth, job creation, and community development. This award has two categories based on annual turnover:

  • Category A: For SMMEs with a turnover below R5 million.
  • Category B: For SMMEs with a turnover above R5 million. Both categories celebrate businesses that impact underserved markets, foster entrepreneurship, and disrupt untransformed sectors, creating lasting socio-economic change.

Sustainable Impact Corporate Award

The Sustainable Impact Award celebrates a company that demonstrates a commitment to creating long-term social and economic impact by aligning its core business objectives with community empowerment initiatives. The award recognizes businesses that integrate sustainability into their operations and contribute to the upliftment of disadvantaged communities through innovative and impactful programs. This award highlights companies that create shared value by addressing societal challenges while driving business success.

Most Transformed Leadership Award

The Most Transformed Leadership Award recognizes a company’s board or executive committee that exemplifies diversity in composition, including race, gender, age, and skills, while achieving transformation at the highest levels of decision-making. This award honors leadership teams that have successfully implemented strategies to address historical inequalities, embody inclusivity, and drive organizational success through progressive governance and improved management control. It celebrates transformation that goes beyond compliance, fostering a culture of socio-economic impact, sustainability, and long-term performance.
