About Us

"Developing Managerial Leadership"

The Black Management Forum (BMF) is a non-racial, non-partisan and non-sexist organisation focusing on developing managerial leadership and creating managerial structures that reflect the demographics and values of the broader South African society.

About The Conference

Accelerating Social Transformation: The New Black Economic Agenda

The Black Management Forum (BMF) will host its annual conference in November 2024, bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and thought leaders. This year’s theme, “Accelerating Social Transformation – The New Black Economic Agenda,” addresses the challenges and opportunities for creating an inclusive economy where black leadership thrives.

Marking 30 years since South Africa’s democratic transition, the conference will reflect on progress made and the work ahead in fostering a non-racist, non-sexist society. It will serve as a launchpad for actionable dialogue on critical issues, including economic participation, inclusive workplaces, the state of BBB-EE, and the role of state-owned enterprises post-election.

With the global economy in focus, the event will also assess the impact of international trends on South Africa’s transformation agenda and the relevance of the upcoming G20 summit for the black economic agenda. The conference will challenge conventions and offer a roadmap for BMF’s future, setting the course for the next 50 years of black excellence.

Panel Discussions

The panel discussions will tackle critical challenges facing socio-economic transformation, focusing on black empowerment, workplace equity, and global economic opportunities. Each panel will provide expert insights and actionable strategies for overcoming obstacles and accelerating progress toward an inclusive economy.

This Panel reflects on the anti-competitive practices in key economic sectors that hinder economic participation by black enterprises.

This panel will reflect on the gaps in meeting employment equity targets and offer insights into bridging the equity divide in the workplace vis-à-vis training and development, skills transfer, and upward mobility.

This panel will explore some of the milestones of the BEE agenda over the last 30 years and the obstacles that need to be overcome to achieve broad-based black empowerment.

This panel will discuss globalized economies and the opportunities for emerging black business to leverage off rapidly growing economies in the global south to build sustainable futures.

This panel will discuss the processes of de-regularization and corporatization of state-owned enterprises and the impact on the black economic agenda.
