2024 ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Award Categories
The BMF Achievement Awards recognise individuals or companies that have played a significant role in driving socio-economic transformation. BMF membership is not mandatory (with the exception of the student chapter awards). However, because contributions to the development of communities are essential criteria in the selection of award recipients, BMF service or participation may be a discriminator between otherwise equal candidates.
Manager Of The Year Award
The Manager of the Year Award celebrates a leader who has made significant contributions to the development of their team and communities while acting as a change agent in the workplace. This individual embodies the values of Ubuntuand has played a pivotal role in promoting transformation, innovation, and good governance. The award recognizes outstanding leadership that goes beyond organizational success to drive meaningful societal impact.
Young Professional Achievement Award
The Young Professional of the Year Award honors an emerging leader under the age of 35 who demonstrates self-discipline, integrity, and a strong work ethic. This individual plays a vital role in advancing transformation within their organization and community, actively contributing to the development of other young professionals. The award acknowledges those who exemplify leadership, innovation, and commitment to socio-economic upliftment.
Young Woman’s Leadership Award
The Young Woman’s Leadership Award celebrates young women under the age of 35 who are trailblazers in business, civil society, entrepreneurship, or public service. These women lead with purpose, driving initiatives that empower other women and contribute to the socio-economic transformation of their communities. This award honors those who inspire and uplift others through their extraordinary leadership and commitment to gender equality.
Student Chapter Branch Of  The Year
This award recognises a sc branch that has been exemplary in student chapter operations and can present evidence of:

- implementing programmes that promote academic excellence and personal development;
- Playing an active role in youth development within the community; and
- Fostering creativity, integrity, initiative, effectiveness, responsibility and accountability.
BMF Impact Award For SMME’s
Category A & B
The BMF Impact Award for SMMEs recognizes Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) that have made notable contributions to economic growth, job creation, and community development. This award has two categories based on annual turnover:
- Category A: For SMMEs with a turnover below R5 million.
- Category B: For SMMEs with a turnover above R5 million. Both categories celebrate businesses that impact underserved markets, foster entrepreneurship, and disrupt untransformed sectors, creating lasting socio-economic change.
Sustainable Impact Corporate Award
The Sustainable Impact Award celebrates a company that demonstrates a commitment to creating long-term social and economic impact by aligning its core business objectives with community empowerment initiatives. The award recognizes businesses that integrate sustainability into their operations and contribute to the upliftment of disadvantaged communities through innovative and impactful programs. This award highlights companies that create shared value by addressing societal challenges while driving business success.
Most Transformed Board Award
The Most Transformed Board Award acknowledges a company board that exemplifies diversity in its composition, including race, gender, age, and skills. The award recognizes boards that have successfully implemented transformation strategies to address historical inequalities while improving organizational performance. This award celebrates the positive relationship between board diversity and long-term success in corporate governance and sustainability.
Most Transformed Exco Award
The Most Transformed Exco Award recognizes an executive committee that has made significant strides in achieving transformation at the highest levels of decision-making. This award honors executive teams that embody diversity and inclusivity while driving the company’s success through progressive leadership and improved management control. It celebrates transformation that goes beyond compliance, fostering a culture of inclusivity and socio-economic impact.
Nomination And Selection Processes
To nominate a candidate, it is important that you:
- Email your nomination and supporting documents to: mpho.motshwanaesi@bmfonline.co.za
- The deadline for submissions is the 30th of October 2024 at 23h59
- Use: Category | Full Name of Nominee as Subject line
- Review the award eligibility and criteria to select the best award for the nominee
- Obtain the nominee’s permission
Nomination:
- For each category, the nominee must submit an executive summary which outlines achievements and addresses each specific criterion as outlined in the nomination brief;
Selection:
- A selection committee will review all nominations and select the award recipient for each award category. Only nominees that meet the selection criteria will be considered;
- The recipients will be announced at the 2024 Achievement awards gala dinner, 8th November 2024, at the Sandton Convention Center.
